A multitude of studies show that up to 80% of young people leave the church after they go on to college, etc. The main reasons? It was their parent' church, not theirs. It was their parents' faith, not theirs. They weren't connected to the church. They weren't shown how to be servants.
We need to do better while these young people are in their teens and still at church. Let them know that we value them, and then back it up by finding something in the church that they can do. Then, and only then, is it THEIR church.
