Years and years ago, my former church always scheduled a Labor Day picnic, and one of the events was a volleyball tournament between the Sunday School classes. My middle-aged class was up against the youth group. At one point, the 6'4" youth pastor went to the net and spiked the ball into a lady's nervous smile. "Yeah! In your face!" he yelled. It took a long time for me to get over that.
Today's youth pastor is likely tomorrow's lead pastor, and just needs a little seasoning. I was once an interim youth leader, so I can identify with (and sympathize) with the challenges they face. Let's pray for our youth pastors.
